The Nvidia Shield Tv 2 Now Comes With Remote And Controller To Offer The Full Nvidia Shield Tv Streaming/Gaming Experience. This will be particularly true if you have not bought the previous one yet. Despite this, there are enough improvements on the NVIDIA SHIELD 2017 that will make you want one. Scheduled to be available starting January 16th, the NVIDIA SHIELD TV 2 offers nearly the same specs as its predecessor. This new year 2017 a new NVIDIA SHIELD TV has been announced at the Consumer Electronic Show (CES). These updates have been keeping it on top of the hardware scene for HTPC lovers. As time went by, the NVIDIA SHIELD TV updated to add even more features. The NVIDIA SHIELD does come with great specs and useful features. Designed for games, the NVIDIA SHIELD packs quite a good amount of computing power. I have not been successful in getting Reicast to run in this configuration. At the time of its launch, the NVIDIA SHIELD TV was one of the most amazing hardware options you could get to stream media at home. I built almost the entirety of retropie on my XU4 using 16.04 with the 4.14 kernel and the wayland drivers. When compiling using 8 cores, fans are on all the time, sometimes CPU speed reduces. Under wayland probably around 70C but I did not really test. so it looks like it stays under 80C for sure. on reicast on GBM they would run, stop, run again etc. so the temp is under 60C.īut when starting anything, the fans start to run a bit.Į.g. In my case, with Gnome3 loaded but idle, the fans don't run. Of course this should happen only when the board being on load. So it's very possible for the XU4Q to be running at 90C, but probably not higher. But according to the kernel sources, this is what should - fan runs at about 1/2 speed (nothing happens on - fan runs at about 3/4 speed (nothing happens on - fan runs at almost fullspeed (nothing happens on - CPU seed reduced for A15 cores from 2GHz to - CPU speed reduced for A15 cores to - CPU speed reduced for A15 cores to 600MHz, A7 cores to - shutdown I don't have a XU4Q, but I never noticed my XU4+fan getting extremely hot.

with this setup, i tried reicast on both wayland and drm/kms (via sdl2). I compiled reicast with support for sdl2 also had latest sdl2 compiled which has support for drm/kms. Did that ever occur to you was on Ubuntu 17.10, not Recalbox. His board was just on and idle, he wasn't even using it. He burnt himself pretty hard touching the rad. Now an off topic consideration as I saw you did an awesome job leading the way to 4.14 : yesterday, a Recalbox dev reported that his XU4Q (that updated to 4.14 with the normal Ubuntu updates) started to heat up and the thermal paste was like boiling. prolly a little later as there is a board we'd like to support that has despicable performance with fbdev and will need GBM. I guess I'll switch to 4.14 with the Buildroot bump. ), this is needed to allow the use of recent kernel (Buildroot versions are quite strict regarding kernel headers version, I don't want to mess around with this) update Buildroot to the latest stable version (this one will be long.

painlessly switch to a squashfs root fs for better stability (it's reaching the end I hope) Regarding Recalbox, we have a (long) way to go before switching to 4.14 : That video from reicast, was it using a recompiled version of Recalbox or just your own tests ?
